Perspective: Lost in the Midst/Battle Cry

Lost in the Midst (Pt. I)

By Steven Tabor

Four days without sleep.

Man what a week.

I was cruisin’ down the straight and narrow

when suddenly I came upon a detour arrow.

The road was wide

and boy was I in for a ride.

The lights were bright,

especially at night,

man what a sight.

I say, “I’ll be fine.

Jesus is still mine.”

He’s just in the back seat

while I go for a treat.

After all I still have free will,

even though it can kill.

But it made me blind

to what I left behind.

He kept calling

but I continued falling.

I gave in to sin and it took me hostage again.

I tried to break free

but all I cared about was me.

I had built a wall,

man it was tall.

I could no longer hear His call,

lost in the midst of it all.

I can no longer see.

Man I gotta break free.

Only Jesus has the key, please Jesus come and free me!

And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him… (Luke 15:16-19)

Battle Cry (Pt II)

By Steven Tabor

I cry in the shower

for God’s mercy and power.

I come crawling back for grace

asking to see His face.

He answers my cry.

Praise God, I thought I was going to die!

He puts out His hand

and takes me back again.

He reaches in, grabs my heart,

He fixes the broken part.

“I had this for you before

but you went on the detour.”

I praise God every day

for re-showing me the way,

for sending the key

that set me free.

I thank you JESUS once again

for the forgiveness of my sin.

So he got up and went to his father, but while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. (Luke 15:20)

For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:24)
